January 15, 2014 - From February 2014 until April 2015, Hans IJzerman (Tilburg University) coordinates the NIAS-Lorentz Theme Group (NLTG) on Social Support: Channels, Contexts, Health Consequences, and Technological Applications. Theme group fellows are Jim Coan (University of Virginia), Julianne Holt-Lunstad (Brigham Young University), Spike W.S. Lee (University of Toronto) and Harry Reis (University of Rochester).

NIAS-Lorentz Theme Group Social Support: Channels, Contexts, Health Consequences, and Technological Applications

If people have good relationships they typically have better health. But just how do relationships improve health? We think that this works through embodied channels, like a warm, soothing touch. We will focus on how we can utilize technology to incorporate embodied channels to improve the quality of people’s relationships and health.

Please contact Hans Ijzerman for further information on this project. The theme group would like to encourage PhD students and Research Master students in particular to contact them.
