Prof.dr. Naomi Ellemers appointed Distinguished Professor of Utrecht University

April 28, 2015 - Prof.dr. Naomi Ellemers will join the select group of professors with the title Distinguished Professor and will have full freedom to work on innovative education and interdisciplinary research.

Distinguished Professors of Utrecht University are appointed because of their vision that transcends disciplinary boundaries and their international standing.

Naomi Ellemers is a social psychologist and a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). In her research, she focuses on power and differences in status, diversity within organisations, ethical climate and work motivation. In 2009, she won the KNAW Merian Prize for outstanding women academics. In 2010, she was awarded the Spinoza Prize. She will be associated with the research theme Institutions for Open Societies. Within the Institutions theme, sociologists, lawyers, economists, philosophers, historians and others address the issue of how the power of societies arises from the quality of the rules that govern human interaction: the institutions.
