Summary

The correct interpretation of emotions is a crucial element of social life, especially in potentially dangerous situations. However, the way ethnic majority members interpret emotions of ethnic minority members is oftentimes distorted. This project examines the role of perceivers’ own emotions in this process by investigating affective biases in emotion interpretation by Dutch natives when interacting with ethnic minority members, Based on this I will develop an intervention in order to overcome misinterpretations of ethnic minority members.
