Summary

The goal of this project is to develop, empirically test, and refine an integrative conceptual model, based on person-environment (P-E) fit theory, which explains how age affects two sets of important work outcomes: job performance and occupational well-being.  First, the model explains how age can directly influence different dimensions of objective and subjective P-E fit.  Second, the model illustrates how age can moderate the relationship between objective P-E fit and subjective P-E fit.  Finally, the model proposes that age can moderate the relationships between P-E fit and work outcomes. These propositions are tested in a series of studies using diverse yet complementary research designs.
