Summary

To mitigate the effects of climate change it is important to transition towards a sustainable production and use of energy. However, public acceptability can be a barrier to achieving a sustainable energy transitions. Therefore, it is important to research factors that influence the acceptance of changes needed to promote sustainable energy and opportunities to increase support for sustainable energy transitions. The research focuses on the acceptance of energy sources, infrastructure, technologies and policies. It will also explore the individual, contextual and situational factors impacting the acceptance of energy savings through behavioral change. The project aims to build on and test existing theory to advance understanding of the factors and processes that influence acceptability and develop strategies for increasing the acceptability of sustainable energy transitions.
