Summary

The nature of interactions between team members is highly relevant for professional teams who are regularly exposed to threatening and non-routine situations (e.g., police or army teams). Yet, the dynamic social mechanisms driving team coping and team resilience remain elusive. Coping in teams is a fluid, dynamic process that develops and changes over time, and this is in stark contrast with the way it has been measured so far – as a static attribute of individuals. Therefore, the focus of this research project will be on the temporal dynamics of team coping, and the consequences of these team coping processes on team outcomes, such as resilience and performance. Moreover, several individual and team characteristics, such as coping style and team diversity,  will be considered as inputs to team coping processes.  To address these points multi-method designs will be employed, whereby behavioral observations, survey data, and information from wearables will be integrated.
